About Us

Welcome to the 16 Plus School, a Sixth form college which strives to bring out the best in you.

The schools admissions process uses aptitude tests which helps to ensure placement of students in programmes best suited for them, thereby increasing their success rate.

Please find below details of the programmes on offer, the admission process and the requirements:

 

Cambridge International Examination (CIE).

 

  • Accelerated Advance Levels: August – June

This is for academically strong candidates who have achieved good results at West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)/ International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) levels and desire a sixth form education to better prepare them for university admission.

Five O’ Level subjects, with a minimum of A – C grades in each of the subjects to be offered at A’ Levels.

  • Two Year Advanced Level Programme – Advanced Subsidiary (AS) and Advanced Level (AL) August-June (Two years)

This is preferred for students with International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) certificates alone who desire to complete the Cambridge International Curriculum for University admission.

Five O’ Level Credits with a minimum of A – C grades in 3 subjects to be offered at A’ Levels.

  • Advanced Level Hybrid: (August – June)

This is for students who desire to proceed with the Advanced Level Programme but have a deficiency in a maximum of one (1) subject at O’ Level.

The student will be coached in this subject and take the examinations in October/ November of the year of admission or May/ June of the following year, simultaneously with the Advanced level examinations.

The duration of the Advanced Level programme to be undertaken will depend on the capacity of the child, and the performance at the school entrance examination.

  • International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE): August – July (Two years)

This is for students who have completed either Year 9 under the British Curriculum and have a minimum of 5 points in their Check Point Examination or for students who have completed JSS3 and desire a British Curriculum for an International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) certificate. It is a two year programme.

 

  • International General Certificate Of Secondary Education (IGCSE): August – June (One year)

This is for students who prefer to undertake the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in one year. The students will be expected to have completed year 10/ SSS1 in their current school. The transcript from the previous school and entrance examination qualify a student for this programme.

 

  • International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)/ West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) October/November or May/June examinations

This is for students who desire to retake the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)/West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in October/November, March/April or May/June of the academic year of admission.

Students are admitted based on their performance at the entrance examination, and must have obtained a minimum of 3 credits at the first attempt of either of the examinations.

 

West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in 1 year

This is for students who have completed their International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and obtained a minimum of 5 credits, and desire a West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) certificate.

 

Foundation Programme (August – December and January – June)

This is designed for students who seek University admission outside the country in January of the following year or through the United Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for Nigerian universities in October of the following year.

All programmes start in the fourth week of August and run through until the first week of July of the following year.

Up to 25% off tuition scholarships are offered to academically strong students. In addition, each year an indigent child who has excellent results in West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)/ International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is offered a full scholarship.

All students are exposed to Career Development, Leadership Skills and Entrepreneurial Skills. Students are coached to excel in Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT), Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and United Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Short programmes of between 1-2, 6-8 weeks are organised during short holidays and during the summer.

The entrance exam is conducted all year round any Monday to Friday between 9am to 2pm.
